The International Persian Language Summer School 2024 will be held at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, Serbia.
Course Description
After a successful summer school in 2023, the Center for Persian Studies at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, is pleased to offer a new Persian intensive summer course for international students/applicants in July 2024. The three/four-week immersion program is designed to provide the necessary language skills and prepare you to perform at a high level from the very beginning of your degree course.

Course Features
The syllabus integrates intensive language study with a primary emphasis on communicative, task-based language learning. You will enhance your Persian skills in a highly creative and effective manner, making this course a pivotal moment in your proficiency with the Persian language. The main features of the course are illustrated in the following diagram. Additionally, the course will incorporate cultural aspects of Persian, which are crucial for language learning. You will explore Persian literature, both classical and modern, through tasks and lectures, deepening your understanding of the language’s cultural context.
The course aims to
- Develop language skills and confidence through our immersion program.
- Help students achieve their individual goals in Persian proficiency.
- Learn more about Persian culture and literature through tasks and informative lectures.
Instructors and Medium of Instruction
The instructors are native speaker professors of Persian and fluent in English. The primary medium of instruction is Persian, emphasizing immersive learning. However, English is also employed as a medium, if needed, to ensure a comprehensive understanding and an effective learning experience for all students/learners.
Assessments
Before the classes start, the instructors will send a written test to all confirmed participants and will have a video call to assess their knowledge of Persian prior to the start of the program. By the end of each week, an interim exam will be organized, and at the end of the school program, the students will pass a final exam to assess their advancement.
Online Support
The course contains online support (via Zoom) after finishing the course, 2 sessions within a month. The students will be added to specific groups (via social networks) to get more educational-learning content and materials.
Certificate
A certificate for participation in the summer course will be issued by the Center for Persian Studies, Faculty of Philology, the University of Belgrade at the end of the course. Those who would like to get the diploma, need to sit for the Persian proficiency AMFA test which will be held at the Faculty of Philology as well. (student fee)
Excursions [Farsi in Trip]
Throughout the three weeks of the International Persian Language Summer School, two educational excursions will be organized. We will spend a day together practicing Persian speaking skills and expanding our vocabulary, expressions, idioms, etc. It promises to be a fun-filled experience! Transportation and meals during these excursions are provided free of charge for participants
Workshops
The summer school includes additional free workshops on Persian calligraphy with the pen.
The Persian Language Summer School in Belgrade will help the participants to develop Persian skills in Reading, writing, listening, and speaking in an academic way and in a very relaxed and enjoyable environment!
Course Fee
The tuition fee is 1250 EUR (early bird rate until May 2024) for the 3-week summer school (intensive Persian language course) and 1650 EUR for the 4-week course (early bird rate until May 2024). This price ONLY includes the lectures, learning materials, coffee breaks, and two excursions (transportation and meal). Registered applicants should send 20% of the course via a wire bank transfer to our faculty account. Payment instructions will be sent to your email after filling out the application form below.

Accommodation
Please note that, in general, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Philology is not obligated to provide accommodation for applicants of the Persian summer school, and dormitory assignments are subject to availability. However, we will process applications upon receiving the final registration documents at least 20 days before the course begins to secure suitable accommodation at a student fee.
