Persian for Specific Purposes (PSP)
The Persian for Specific Purposes (PSP) program at the University of Belgrade is a university-based academic initiative designed to provide specialized Persian language training for professional, diplomatic, and research-oriented contexts in Europe. Unlike general Persian language courses, this program focuses on discipline-specific terminology, institutional discourse, and advanced communicative competence tailored to clearly defined academic and professional needs.
Within the institutional framework of the Faculty of Philology and under the academic authority of the Department of Oriental Studies, the program is implemented in accordance with established higher-education standards and integrates research-based methodologies with systematically structured language instruction. The program is designed to provide participants with advanced Persian language competencies required not solely for general communication, but for academic research, policy and analytical work, professional communication, and formal institutional engagement within Persian-speaking contexts.
Academic Persian
The Academic Persian track is intended for researchers, doctoral candidates, graduate students, and scholars engaged in Iranian studies, Middle Eastern studies, linguistics, literature, history, or related disciplines. The program develops advanced reading strategies for academic texts, terminology management, conference presentation skills, and research-oriented writing practices. Emphasis is placed on working with authentic academic materials, including scholarly articles, primary sources, and specialized publications.
Diplomatic and Institutional Persian
This track is designed for diplomats, embassy staff, policy analysts, and professionals working in international organizations. Training focuses on formal registers, political and administrative terminology, media discourse, institutional communication, and intercultural competence. Participants develop the ability to interpret official documents, engage in formal correspondence, and understand contemporary public discourse within Persian-speaking contexts.
Business and Professional Persian
The professional track addresses the needs of business professionals, consultants, and economic actors engaged in cooperation with Persian-speaking environments. All Persian for Specific Purposes programs are individually tailored following a needs analysis conducted prior to enrollment. Courses may be offered in individual or small-group formats and are aligned with international academic standards.
